Imanii – Be Lovin’ You

I-manii is ‘predominantly’ an inspirational reggae group out of Jamaica. The word I-MANII is of African origin, Swahili to be exact, and means ‘hope’. The group began in 2005 and since then has maintained a focus to bring out the sentiment of ‘hope’ in its’ songs, particularly burdened with great concern for the youth. The aim is not to be ‘limited’, but to create different types of music that caters to the social (humanistic), spiritual, and emotional aspects of mankind, all in a positive way. Songwriter and lead singer R. T. Brown, founded the group and started with three members.

The three were of the acappella group A.C.T.S which came to prominence as a finalist in the 1998 J.C.D.C gospel competition. Their first single recorded shortly after was “Father & I”. What followed thereafter were the recordings of more spiritual and positive songs.

The fourth member joined later during subsequent production work, completing the unit. I-manii has been performing on concerts around Jamaica especially in St. Catherine & Kingston.

Memorable events for the group so far were those coordinated by saxophone great Dean Fraser. These included opportunities to perform alongside artistes such as Bengy Myaz, John Holt, A.J. Brown, and Fab Five to name a few. The group’s latest accomplishment has been the completion of their debut album.
